Joshua Harris - Piano Studio

I am a composer and pianist living in Denton, Texas.  I have played piano for 22 years and taught piano for 15 years.  Though classically trained, I have played popular music professionally for the past 8 years.  I can teach either or both styles, as well as reading chords from lead sheets or fake books.  I am currently accepting new students from beginner to advanced-intermediate levels in Denton and surrounding areas.  I will be happy to teach lessons to any age student in their home (references can be provided upon request).

Education

I am currently a doctoral student of music composition at the University of North Texas.

I have a master’s degree in music composition from Brigham Young University and a bachelor’s degree in music performance and music education from Appalachian State University.

My piano teachers include Allen Kindt, Bair Shagdaron and Steven Lindeman.

Weddings and Parties, et cetera

I would love to perform at your upcoming wedding, reception or other event.  My repertoire for such events (in addition to the standard wedding music) includes standards by George Gershwin, Cole Porter, Antonio Carlos Jobim, Richard Rogers, and classics made famous by Frank Sinatra, Tony Bennett and others.  I also include more contemporary songs from artists such as Elton John, Billy Joel, the Beatles and Norah Jones.

Other services provided include composing new music, arranging and copying music (creating beautiful sheet music and scores) and teaching composition and music theory lessons.  These lessons are especially helpful for high school students preparing for college auditions and entrance exams.

Email me (joshua [at] joshuaharris [dot] us) for more information including scheduling and fees for lessons and other services.
